{"id":210,"date":"2010-05-31T18:12:59","date_gmt":"2010-05-31T18:12:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carrollmyth.wordpress.com\/?p=210"},"modified":"2015-07-23T18:55:44","modified_gmt":"2015-07-23T18:55:44","slug":"wiki-weirdness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/contrariwise.info\/blog\/2010\/05\/31\/wiki-weirdness\/","title":{"rendered":"Wiki-weird"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/contrariwise.wild-reality.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/madteaparty2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/contrariwise.wild-reality.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/madteaparty2.jpg\" alt=\"madteaparty2\" width=\"862\" height=\"658\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-641\" srcset=\"https:\/\/contrariwise.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/madteaparty2.jpg 862w, https:\/\/contrariwise.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/madteaparty2-300x229.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 862px) 100vw, 862px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lewis_Carroll\">Lewis Carroll Wik<\/a>i page is an almost permanent zone of weird, of course, but I&#8217;m not talking about the usual kinds of\u00a0 &#8220;he was a pervert who should have had his balls fried&#8221;, or &#8220;he lived next door to my Nan and used to walk her dog&#8221;, kind of stuff ; I&#8217;m referring to\u00a0 that half-hearted part time Wiki-War being fought against those pesky and\u00a0 inconvenient facts that have been recently unearthed.\u00a0 <em>Someone<\/em>, for example, keeps modifying the\u00a0 section on the so-called &#8216;Guildford paper&#8217;, digging up Morton Cohen&#8217;s still unsubstantiated, and best forgotten claims about Philip Jaques (Carroll&#8217;s great-nephew),\u00a0 having written it\u00a0 as a &#8216;joke&#8217;,\u00a0 and\u00a0 concluding\u00a0 Carroll almost probably <em>might<\/em> really still have proposed to Alice Liddell on that iconic June day in 1863 after all.\u00a0 You can just see them thinking &#8211; bless &#8217;em &#8211;\u00a0 &#8220;if we\u00a0 can put it right there on Wiki then it <em>must <\/em>be true.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Well today we noticed\u00a0 things have suddenly ratcheted up a tad, and<em> someone<\/em> had deleted the entire &#8216;Carroll Myth&#8217; section.<\/p>\n<p>Guess that about wraps it up then. If it&#8217;s not on Wiki, then it just isn&#8217;t worth talking about. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>Update: someone has put it back now.
